Wow, you would have thought I was on summer vacation from blogging, but as most of you know the weather has be beautiful and I like to take Mom and Dad outside every chance I get! I could write a book of all the changes and things we have been doing, but I will try to keep this short and sweet.

Highlights-

-Easter weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Ward

-Helping Dad plant the garden (let's just say I took multiple baths that day)

-Running into the neighbor's yard to pet their dog (my daily activity)

-Going up and down the stairs while throwing items down them

-Playing with my Football and Basketball

-Playing with any child or animal that will come my way

-More teeth

-Playing superman off the coffee table (Mom and Dad hid it for now, man they are no fun)

-Mom will be 28 weeks this Sunday! I can't wait until this little playmate comes!

Mom at 23 weeks...The belly has grown a ton since then. She was told this week by an adult that this baby looks like it will come soon. Mom just laughed and said, no 13 weeks to go.

Now, I should take some time away from me to discuss what is growing in Mom's Belly. I love to lift up her shirt and point to her belly button, but she tells me there is a Baby in there.

Mom and Dad took me along to the ultrasound on Friday. I was good, but when there are computers, T.V. screens, and lots of items to touch, of course I wanted to get down and explore this new environment. I did let Dad have a few good looks at this little one, but then he and I went to the hall so I could walk and explore there. We lasted in the Ultrasound about 10 minutes. So Mom got to finish and show us the cool pictures of my new little brother or sister. Yes, you will have to wait to find out. Mom needs to scan the pictures, but she took a picture of one of them. It is hard to see so we will get better ones up soon. But here is the little one...

It was a busy one. The baby flipped and turned the whole time. Mom's belling was rolling:) We got some 3D pictures as well which are kind of neat to see!

The big 1 year old

That is right, I am officially 1 and loving every minute of it. I am a walking and climbing machine. I can now climb on the couch and into the bathtub by myself. Luckily Mom and Dad have taught me how to get down from the couch correctly so I don't face dive onto the floor. I learned last week how to stand up without any assistance also. My new big thing to also add is I have learned some sign language. I can say all done, please, and thank you. I am also very good at folding my hands to say my prayers. I love to tell Mom and Dad all done when they are changing my diaper, however, they do not stop that one. A kids gotta try right?

For my birthday, I had a party in Minnesota with the Ward and Fossen families. It was so much fun to see everyone. I love my new toys! Mom made me a puppy cake also! It looked really cool, but I have decided I am not yet a fan of cake. Then, I went to the farm to celebrate with Grandpa Fred. His birthday is the day before mine! We got an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen. Now that was delicious! My cousins Peter and Henry came to play and got to see lots of baby animals! Very exciting for a little guy!

Mom took me to my appointment and I officially weigh 26 lbs 1 ounce and am 30 1/2 inches long. Yes, a big boy I know, I get told that all the time.

My Grandpa Ward had surgery on his shoulder, so I thought I would make him a picture. Since I can't color or write yet, Mom made me some homemade finger paint. It was great! I tried to taste it, but enjoyed smearing it on the paper and table more. My shirt got a little color too, but don't worry it came out. Hope you enjoy!! Get better soon Grandpa!!!

Pictures are coming soon of my recent adventures and experiences. Unlike most people who are sick of this awful winter weather we have been having, I am enjoying my extra time at home with Mom and Dad. We have a lot of fun on snow/ice days and I keep them busy. Grandma and Grandpa Ward came down last weekend and Mom and Dad got to go to a movie. 1st one in 2 years Mom says. They saw Blindside and both of them would recommend it to everyone. Grandma and Grandpa kept me busy and played with me lots while helping Mom and Dad clean up the house. Much needed Mom says, since I like to throw everything I come in contact with on the floor. Eyes always need to be on me because I am busy!!! I got my first goose egg yesterday morning as I fell hard and hit the coffee table(Mom swore she was going to make it disappear for a while, but we'll see). I now look like a tough little boy. On to bigger news, most of you know, but I am going to be a big Brother in August. I don't know what this means quite yet, but Mom tells me I will be good at it. I am also almost walking. I can stand independently and take a few steps to Mom and Dad without help. I would still rather crawl right now though. It is scary to start walking without help! Well, I will leave you with a picture of my new little brother or sister. Enjoy!

The 'Middle Wife' by an Anonymous 2nd grade teacher.

I've been teaching now for about fifteen years. I have two kids myself, but the best birth story I know is the one I saw in my own second grade classroom a few years back.

When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they're welcome.

Well, one day this little girl, Erica, a very bright, very outgoing kid, takes her turn and waddles up to the front of the class with a pillow stuffed under her sweater.

She holds up a snapshot of an infant. 'This is Luke, my baby brother, and I'm going to tell you about his birthday.'

'First, Mom and Dad made him as a symbol of their love, and then Dad put a seed in my Mom's stomach, and Luke grew in there. He ate for nine months through an umbrella cord.'

She's standing there with her hands on the pillow, and I'm trying not to laugh and wishing I had my camcorder with me.. The kids are watching her in amazement.

'Then, about two Saturdays ago, my Mom starts saying and going, 'Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh!' Erica puts a hand behind her back and groans. 'She walked around the house for, like an hour, 'Oh, oh, oh!' (Now this kid is doing a hysterical duck walk and groaning.)

'My Dad called the middle wife. She delivers babies, but she doesn't have a sign on the car like the Domino's man. They got my Mom to lie down in bed like this.' (Then Erica lies down with her back against the wall.)

'And then, pop! My Mom had this bag of water she kept in there in case he got thirsty, and it just blew up and spilled all over the bed, like psshhheew!' (This kid has her legs spread with her little hands miming water flowing away. It was too much!)

'Then the middle wife starts saying 'push, push,' and 'breathe, breathe. They started counting, but never even got past ten. Then, all of a sudden, out comes my brother. He was covered in yucky stuff that they all said it was from Mom's play-center, (placenta) so there must be a lot of toys inside there. When he got out, the middle wife spanked him for crawling up in there.'

Then Erica stood up, took a big theatrical bow and returned to her seat. I'm sure I applauded the loudest. Ever since then, when it's show-and-tell day, I bring my camcorder, just in case another ' Middle Wife' comes along.

Christmas 2009

Mom forgot our camera cord at Grandma and Grandpa's so you will all have to wait for my collage of Christmas shots. We spent almost a week up in Minnesota and didn't leave Grandma and Grandpa's too much. Too much snow!!! I enjoyed crawling all over their house, climbing up their furniture, and getting into everything :). I got to deliver my cousins Peter and Henry a new puppy on our way home. Then Mom and Dad went to visit my new cousin Sydney in the hospital while I played with Grandma and Grandpa Miller. We have been busy that is for sure. Since we have been home I now like to wake up at 4:30, hate to sleep the day away like Dad. Mom is hoping I start sleeping a little later starting tomorrow because back to work. No more morning naps for Mom. My new skill I have learned is to clap. I do it all the time now and enjoy seeing my hands meet in the middle. I also enjoy cleaning off areas such as shelves, tables, my toy chest, which means everything on the floor. I also love to climb anything and everything I can. I am always lifting my legs to see if I can make it up. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Last week Mom and Dad had a couple of snow days from school. Man was I busy during this time. Mom let me stay in my PJs all day and I ruled the house. Mom took some pictures to have evidence of what I was doing, however she wasn't able to capture me climbing up the stairs on my own multiple times...

Wow, time is flying. I am now 8 1/2 months and changing everyday. I have crawling mastered and am quite the little mover. I am also very good at climbing things and putting everything in my mouth. In this past month, I have been to Minnesota twice, my cousin Mason's house, and to aunt Lynn's bed and breakfast in Sumner, IA. In other words, I have been very busy!!! I am happy to say, I get to stay home next weekend.

This year has brought my family many things to be thankful for. My mom says I am the number one thing!!! My Mom and Dad adore me along with the rest of our families. I am such a sweet little boy. We are also thankful to have a healthy and happy family. We are truly blessed!!! I will leave you with some new pictures of me.

I had my 6 month appointment last week. I weighed 21lbs 11oz and 27 1/2 in long. I am working on crawling but haven't quite figured out how to go forward. My first tooth broke through today. I am changing daily and getting so big. Mom tells me I am such a sweet and happy boy!!! More pictures coming soon!!

Has it already been a month? Wow, I have been busy this last month. Mom and Dad are both working again and I get to go to Audra's for daycare. Except a few days when Auntie Brooke has watched me. This is what keeps me busy during the week. The last 2 weekends I have been all over the place. On Aug. 29th we went to St. Louis for a wedding. It was a quick trip and I was a good car rider. Labor Day weekend Mom, Becky and I went to Minnesota. We got to see lots of family and I got lots of attention from Grandma and Grandpa. I am now eating cereal and applesauce. I love eating time especially getting my hands in my food. Mom also gave me water today in a cup for the first time. She had to take it away from me because I was going to town on it. I am also starting to crawl- only backwards so far but I will figure it out soon. I went swimming today as well. Trying to enjoy these last few warm days.

Iowa State Fair & 5 months old

I am now 5 months old and have almost mastered sitting up. I will sit by myself for quite a while, then I do a TIMBER. I almost have my first teeth also. They are getting so close and really starting to bother me. I haven't been sleeping as well for Mom either. She is blaming it on these teeth. We all wish they would just come in. I have also started making a new noise. I used to coo and make sweet noises, but now I Squawk like a dying bird. It is quite funny!

Mom, Dad, and Aunt Becky took me to the Iowa State Fair last Thursday. It was over 90 degrees with very little wind. In other words HOT. I was a trooper though enjoying the sites and being outside. I got to go to the Nadas concert where we found Dane and Brooke. After the concert we spotted Shawn Johnson, the Olympic Gold Medalist. She lives in West Des Moines. So I got my picture taken with her. Mom was so happy I didn't spit-up or poo on her. Here are the photos.

My baptism was Aug. 8th 2009. It was such a fun event filled with family and good food. Grandma and Grandpa Ward cooked fish for everyone. Maybe next year I will get some, for now I will stick to my milk and cereal. I loved getting dipped in the Holy Water. I had a big grin on my face.

Wow, it has been a long time since we have updated you all. What a busy summer we are having. Since the last post we have made it up to Minnesota for a few days to spend time with my Mom's side of the family. I had a lot of fun playing with the other babies. I sure make them look small. While we were up there, I started rolling over from my back to front. It is quite the new experience for me but now I am really good at it. When we got back home Mom and Dad have started projects around the house which means less time on the computer to update you all. The old garage is almost finished and the deck is all ready for some staining. Grandma and Grandpa Ward came down last weekend and finished painting the main floor of the house and got to spend lots of time with me, which I like of course. On the fourth of July, we went and spent the day with the Millers. Dane and Brooke had everyone over to their new house. It was sure fun to play with my cousins. On Saturday, we are going up to the lake for a week in Minnesota. I get to ride on a boat and have my first camping experience. Should be lots of fun and maybe I will catch a fish or two. Mom said she would get some pictures up soon and maybe a video or two.

We went to Lake Okoboji this weekend with some of Mom and Dad's friends. It was a lot of fun but it was too cold for me to wear my board shorts and get into the water. Maybe next time. I have gotten to spend lots of time with Dad lately, while Mom does summer school. Dad is very silly and we have lots of fun together, he can really get me laughing. We have a very busy next few weeks coming up. This weekend I get to go to the farm and celebrate my cousin Henry's 1st birthday! I am also hoping to meet some more of Mom and Dad's friends. Then up to Minnesota sometime next week.

Mom was trying really hard to get a picture of me smiling...I was being very sneaky and every time she snapped the photo, I got rid of my smile! Mom says I take pictures like my Dad.

We had my 2 month appointment on May 21st. I was 14 1/2 lbs and 24 1/2 in long. I am a very big boy. I have finally started to slow down on my eating(every 3 hours instead of 2) so mom thinks I won't be packin' on the lbs so fast. Grandma and Grandpa Ward came to visit me over Memorial Day weekend. They helped mom and dad clean up the yard and plant a garden. Everything is now starting to grow so we will see what happens. Dad is done with school now so mom has an extra hand throughout the day. She says she should be able to get more done. But Mom starts summer school next week throughout the summer so Dad is in-charge. Watch out!!! We have a busy summer planned and are hoping to see lots of our relatives.

New things about me, I am really into my toys now, laughing some, lots of smiles, lots of talking, and lots of kicking. I love to be talked to! A few things I don't like are the vacuum cleaner and when people cough- that scares me. I hope you like my video from last week.

I have now been to 4 states. We made it up to Minnesota and back home safely. It was a 8 hour car ride(because we stopped by the farm) that took us about 9 hours. It was sure fun to meet and see my family though.

Mom weighed me on Monday and I am already 14lbs. She says I am going to be a very big boy. I am sleeping 5-6 hours a night which mom says YEAH to. I take lots of short naps in the daytime as well so mom can get some stuff done...all my laundry:). I am now trying to suck on my hands, play with some toys(swing at them), kick lots, and I am sure talking. I also really like to smile and have people talk to me.

6 weeks Old

It is hard to believe I have been in this big world 6 weeks already. Wow time flies! I am getting to be such a big boy. Mom says I am changing so fast that each day she just takes everything I do in because the next day, I start doing new things. My new biggest accomplishment this last week is how much and big I am smiling. It can brighten anyone's day my mom says. I am a very happy little boy if you can't tell from my video. This last week, Mom took me to school to do some IEP meetings. That is right, I sat through them all for 2 1/2 hours. I was such a good boy and did an awesome job. I also helped Mom make lunch for Dad and we went and ate it with him at school one day. That was fun and lots of people got to hold me. Mom's friend Katie came to visit me all the way from ND last weekend. That about covers the big week events. This weekend I am heading to Nebraska again for a wedding and then up to Minnesota to stay with Grandma and Grandpa Ward for a week. I also get to meet my Great Grandparents. I am sure I will have lots of pictures, maybe even catch my first fish.

I was 5 weeks yesterday! I am getting really big and quite heavy, Mom tells me. She said she wouldn't be surprised if I was 11lbs now. Let's see events from this last week, Mom took me to the Special Olympics Track and Field day. Her students did a great job, but I missed it because I slept through it all. The weather was really nice and it was my first outdoor outing. I also got to use my stroller, which I really like. Mom and I went on some walks last week to visit Dad after school, gotta love the 70 degree weather. Then on Saturday, I got to add state #3 to my list. Mom, Auntie Becky, and our friend Amanda went to Omaha to a wedding shower. Man there were a lot of girls there, I was really out numbered. I did a really good job and had another successful car ride. I am working up to the big road trip to Minnesota coming up in a couple weeks. My Aunt and Uncle Dane and Brooke came to visit me yesterday. They brought us supper and it was fun hanging out with them. We will see what Mom and Dad have in store for me this week. Man we sure are busy!! Mom has some new pictures and a video she will try to get up later today.

We had a fun weekend! Mom and Dad took me to Owatonna to see Grandma and Grandpa Ward. I also got to meet my uncle Matt. I really liked the hotel and Grandpa was teaching me how to play cards. I got to go to restaurants, church and a gas station as well. I did such a good job with all of these new things. I also slept the whole 3 hour drive up there. On Sunday, we went to the farm to see Grandma and Grandpa Miller. New updates on me...I slept for about 5 hours, 3 nights in a row (except last night), I can follow objects with my eyes, I LOVE to eat, I am a very strong little guy-I will even stand on my legs some and jump, I am now in 3 month clothes, my eyes are turning blue, and I have discovered my voice. My favorite activities are bouncing, laying on my back checking out this big world, and looking in mirrors.

It has been a crazy week. I caught my first cold and am finally slowly getting over it. Having a stuffed up nose when you can't blow makes for a miserable baby. But I am getting better, but not sleeping as well as I was- which means mom is tired. Thank goodness Auntie Becky stopped by this week a couple days so mom could get a nap in.

Yesterday was a busy day. Mom and Dad took me to church, target, the grocery store, and then Sears. I helped Dad pick out a new lawnmower for our yard and I actually didn't make it into the grocery store because I got hungry. I do enjoy getting pushed in the carts at the stores. Mom tells me I will really like my stroller. We haven't been able to use it yet because the weather has been chilly. Speaking of chilly, it is suppose to snow here today, which means another day indoors all bundled up.

My mom has some new pictures but is having trouble putting them up. Maybe later today it will work.

My mom took me to the doctor today for my check-up. I now weigh 9lbs 6 oz.- that's right I am a good eater! Everything else looked good. Yesterday I was two weeks old. My cousin Mason came to visit me. It was really fun to meet him and my aunt and uncle Micah and Diane. Dane and Brooke also came to visit. My dad woke me up to show everyone how I can roll over. I was so mad that I rolled over in the opposite direction I usually do. Everyone cheered me on and was very proud of me. Mom is still working on trying to get the video uploaded. Dad had to go back to work today and it has just been mom and me today. I have been a very good boy for her though. She has even managed to get a few things done.

Today Mom and Dad took me out to Des Moines. I got my first pictures taken. I was not a huge fan that mom only wanted me in my diaper. Then half way through I got hungry and had to eat. Once Dad got me, I took some really nice pictures. I sure do love my dad, he always knows just what to do. The photographer even got a picture of a rare smile I give, she was very quick. Then I got to go to mom's school and see all the people she works with. I was the center of attention once again and got passed from person to person. I am exhausted tonight and mom hopes that means I will sleep well again!

To Grandma's House we go

I got to go on my first real road trip yesterday. Mom and Dad took me to the farm to meet my Grandma and Grandpa Miller. I also got to meet 2 of my cousins. Peter did a great job holding me! I also got to show off for everyone by rolling over, which I have been doing since I was 3 days old. Everyone cheered really loud! My mom said she would put a video of me doing that up soon. I slept the whole car ride there and back. When I got home I was wide awake and got to stay up late with my daddy, while mom took a nap. What a busy day!

World here I come...March 15th, 2009 at 9:17 am

9lbs 22 in. long

I am a big boy and a very good baby. I really like eating, sleeping during the day, and looking at lights. I am quite the thinker already just like my dad. If you can't tell, I look just like him everyone tells me. My Grandpa and Grandma Ward have been staying with me this week at home helping my mom with me. I am getting very spoiled. I am so excited because my dad is on spring break this week and he will be home with me and my mom.
